This project allowed us to interact with students and faculty, we reinforced our commitment to vocational excellence, exploring ways to bridge the gap between technical training and sustainable career opportunities
Area of Focus:
Economic and Community Development

In the spirit of Rotary’s Vocational Service Month, members of our club traveled to the Baptist Vocational Training Institute (BVTI) in Frankadua to turn professional expertise into personal inspiration. Vocational service is the cornerstone of Rotary—it is the belief that our various occupations are not just jobs, but tools to serve society and mentor the next generation.
Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Career
The students at Frankadua are already mastering the technical "how-to" of their crafts, from catering and dressmaking to masonry and hair design. However, the transition from an institute to a thriving marketplace requires more than just technical skill; it requires a professional roadmap.
Our visiting delegation, representing sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and entrepreneurship, sat down with the students for a series of high-impact career guidance sessions. These conversations focused on:
The Entrepreneurial Mindset: How to transition from being a student to becoming a business owner in the local economy.
Professional Ethics: The importance of integrity, reliability, and "Service Above Self" in building a lasting reputation.
Financial Literacy: Practical advice on managing startup costs and reinvesting in their own vocational tools.
Mentorship in Action
The day was defined by "living library" sessions, where students could ask candid questions about the challenges of the modern workforce. For many students, seeing successful professionals take a direct interest in their vocational journey provided a significant boost in confidence. We reminded them that their skills are the backbone of Ghana’s economic future and that excellence in a trade is a prestigious and vital path.
A Lasting Connection
This visit to Frankadua was more than a one-day event; it was a renewal of our partnership with the institute. By investing our time and professional insights, we are helping to ensure that when these students graduate, they aren't just looking for jobs—they are ready to create them.
As we celebrate Vocational Service Month, we honor the dignity of all useful occupations and remain committed to being the "bridge" that helps these young professionals cross into a future of independence and success.
